3. System requirements
Your browser and/or system configuration needs the following minimum requirements to be able to use Kluwer Borderwatch:
- Corporate level PC with a sound card (sound for training only);
- Microsoft Windows 98 or later;
- Internet access (preferably not dial up);
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or later. (Download the most recent Internet Explorer browser at http://www.microsoft.com);
- Macromedia Flash v.6 (though v.8 or higher is optimal);
- Javascript and Cookies turned on;
- Pop-up blocker turned off;
- A recent version of the Acrobat Reader. (Download the most recent Acrobat Reader version at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
4. Registration
Once you have a subscription or a trial to Kluwer Borderwatch, you must complete the registration process. Please register as follows:
- go to the home page at www.kluwerborderwatch.com
- click Subscribers register here
- this will take you to the Borderwatch registration screen
- click register
- agree to the terms and conditions
- click subscribe to a helpdesk
- enter your keycode. OR you will need to enter more than one keycode if there are more than 1 user accessing KluwerBorderwatch.com. Click back if this is the case
- once all keycodes have been entered, click go back to homepage
5. Logging on
You may log in every 24 hours with the username and password you registered with
via www.kluwerborderwatch.com.
Once logged in, you may change your user details by selecting My Profile on the
My Account page to change your user details such as password or email address. Once logged in,
you may unsubscribe or customize your email notifications by using My Preferences
on the My Account page.
5.1 Forget username and password
In case you have forgotten your username and/or password, you can click on
forget your password after which you enter the Retrieve password page.
When you have filled in the data and pressed submit an automated email is sent
to LIC containing a request to send the customer’s username and/or password to the
customer. LIC will mail the customer his username and password.
5.2 Incorrect username and password
When you have typed in an incorrect username and/or password, you get the following message:
Authentication failure. Please try again
5.3 Expired account
When your subscription has expired,you will get the following message:
Your subscription has expired. Please contact Kluwer Borderwatch Support

where you can ask for a new subscription or an extension of your current subscription.
5.4 Logging off
When you log off from the Kluwer Borderwatch helpdesk, you automatically return to
www.kluwerborderwatch.com.
6. Contents
Within each Helpdesk, content can be viewed by Country or by Topic. If you enter the database using the Country view you will then be required to select a Topic and/or any of its Sub-Topics. Alternatively, if you enter the database using the Topic view then you will be required to select a Country. You can switch views at any time by using either the right hand menu bar or the breadcrumb trail at the top of the screen.
7. Search
You can search the database for specific information utilizing either the Quick Search function or the Advanced Search function, the latter providing full keyword search. Both functions are available on the right hand menu bar.
